Since it was lit on July 23 in Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, the Youth Olympic torch has made its way across Germany, Senegal, Mexico, New Zealand and South Korea to reach Singapore for the inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

The torch landed at Singapore Changi Airport on Thursday afternoon. Ng Ser Miang, chairman of the Singapore YOG Organising Committee, emerged from the plane carrying the flame in a safety lantern to a row of flagbearers proudly displaying the flags of the participating countries of the 2010 games. This will be the last international torch relay in Olympic history, which makes Singapore Airlines the last official carrier of the Olympic flame. In March 2009, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided that all future torch relays will be held solely within the host country.
